Tower Hamlets Councillor Rabina Khan won Council support for the ten-step plan of the End Our Cladding Scandal Campaign and called for support for all residents affected across the Borough.

On 28 October 2020 members of the Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats met for their 2020 AGM. At the AGM the members selected the new exec for 2021 and also created a new constitutional role of Diversity Officer for the local party.

London Liberal Democrats have today confirmed Luisa Porritt as their Candidate for Mayor of London in the 2021 election.

In her first comments as the candidate, Luisa Porritt described London as at a “crucial moment” and said she would bring “big ideas and urgent action” to secure its future. Her ideas include putting “homes in the heart of the city” and reshaping London so that its “600 neighbourhoods” lead the recovery.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Rabina Khan and Conservative Group Leader Peter Gold proposed an emergency motion to Tower Hamlets Council on Wednesday 30th September to condemn the treatment of the Uyghur Muslims in China and the situation in Hong Kong, and to issue protest letters to the People’s Republic of China and the UK Foreign Secretary. Despite also being backed by Labour Mayor John Biggs, the Labour Chair said he did not “consider this matter urgent enough to be discussed”.

Speaking on BBC London (2/6/2020) in response to the Public Health England report on disparities in COVID-19 risks and outcomes, Cllr Rabina Khan called on the government to do more to answer the question "why" there has been such a disparate impact of COVID-19 on BAME communities:

Cllr Rabina Khan has written to Sir Malcolm Walker, chairman of Iceland, and Gavin Williamson, secretary of state for education calling on them to include Iceland in the government's scheme to provide free meals during the COVID-19 lockdown to children who would otherwise be eligible for free meals at school.

The Liberal Democrats have today called on the Government to “equip Tower Hamlets
Council with the financial resources needed” to accommodate all rough sleepers locally.
