Tower Hamlets Lib Dems fighting general election to Stop Brexit

Tower Hamlets Lib Dems welcome the general election being called as the best opportunity to Stop Brexit.

Lib Dems are ready to stand on a clear platform: a Liberal Democrat government would Revoke Article 50, retain Britain’s place in Europe and get on with tackling the issues that have been neglected for the last four years.

The Lib Dems won the European elections in the capital in May, topping the poll overall and winning outright in 16 boroughs, reflecting London’s liberal, open identity. In Tower Hamlets the Liberal Democrats came a strong second place, and are now the main challengers to Labour.

Josh Babarinde, Parliamentary Candidate for Bethnal Green & Bow said: “With a People’s Vote blocked by Labour and the Conservatives time and time again, I’m proud that the Liberal Democrats have secured this election so that - finally - the people can have the final say on our country’s future.

"Bethnal Green and Bow voted to remain in the European Union. I’ll be fighting tooth and nail to deliver on their will and stop Brexit.”

Andrew Cregan, Parliamentary Candidate for Poplar & Limehouse said: "“The Liberal Democrats are an opportunity for hope and genuine change for us in Poplar & Limehouse, let down a Labour Party that is hopeless in Parliament, soft on crime in London, and incompetent on everything in Tower Hamlets.

"Labour have neglected people in east London and I relish the chance to take them on in an election here - the Lib Dems offer a real chance to stay in EU, and then move onto the actual issues damaging the lives of local people.”

We have the momentum. We have the candidates. And with your help, we have the winning campaign.
