Tower Hamlets Councillor Rabina Khan won Council support for the ten-step plan of the End Our Cladding Scandal Campaign and called for support for all residents affected across the Borough.
Councillor Rabina Khan said, "Dangerous cladding poses an issue of public safety. People's lives are at risk and residents are living in an environment where they feel unsafe. They are being threatened with huge bills to put right something that's not their fault, placing a terrible strain on both tenants and leaseholders, who are trapped in buildings with no end in sight."
On the London Assembly, Liberal Democrat Caroline Pidgeon has brought together people from across London to campaign on cladding. She said, "I’m working with Luisa Porritt and our London Lib Dem colleagues, calling on the Government and Mayor of London to work together to immediately ensure properties are made safe and no costs are passed to leaseholders."
London Assembly Candidate Richard Flowers is also supporting the campaign, saying "It's three years since the tragedy at Grenfell Tower showed us the risk posed by dangerous cladding. Sadly the Government is letting the matter slide and trapping people in worthless, potentially lethal homes."
