Members of the Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats have selected Elaine Bagshaw as Mayoral Candidate for the upcoming mayoral election in Tower Hamlets. Elaine Bagshaw most recently ran as the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Poplar and Limehouse.
Members of Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats met last night for a mayoral hustings and selection of their candidate for the Tower Hamlets Mayoral Election.
In the three years since the 2015 Mayoral By-Election, Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats have increased votes and vote share in every single election - last year securing our best ranking ever in Poplar and Limehouse.
The newly elected mayoral candidate, Elaine Bagshaw said: "I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together as a team over the last three years".
Bagshaw's pitch to members, and now to voters, rests on a 'Six to Fix'.
"I have a clear Six to Fix message, focusing on the six issues residents have regularly told me are the most important things to them"
"Homes; crime and anti-social behaviour; recycling and litter; making the Council work for residents; Brexit; and Community and Green Spaces".
Bagshaw called on the party to "attack the Tories on their appalling record in government", to show that the Independents are split, and fight Labour "on how they have proven themselves utterly unfit to run this borough".
Councillor Andrew Cregan said: "It is excellent to have someone with such a clear record of campaigning for Tower Hamlets, with a proven track record of driving up the party's vote share, is in place for May".
"Elaine Bagshaw has worked tirelessly to build a team and campaigning force since 2015, and is exactly the right person to lead our campaign back into local government".
